My Banjo broke.

I was having a great practice session with pmaxgentry and our resident jazz bassist...and I was on my way to turn off or on the stereo..and I slipped...and fell...and my banjo neck broke...and I smacked my lip.

Replacing it would cost in between $3k and $6k. So...I got the name and number of a banjo luthier...hopefully it can be repaired.

My baby is hurt.

Oh, my god, that's dreadful news. I hope the repairs are possible and affordable. For high-tech stuff the answer too often seems to be, "throw it out and buy new," but perhaps banjos are still the kind of craft-made object that can be put right with tools and skill?

Sorry to hear about your banjo. I suppose this is one instance where duct tape wouldn't work, right? I hope the luthier will be able to fix your baby.

oh no! thank goodness you have a place where your baby can get better.

if you want, check out the stewart macdonald catalog and you can see all the replacement parts they have available for banjos--not that you should do the work, but to see all the neat stuff they can fix your banjo with.

i had a 1880 guitar with a huuuuge crack in it and a nice luthier fixed it up for me and she plays all nicely again.

i love good luthiers.

Ouch! I have complete and utter faith in the luthier profession. I have a good reference in north San Diego county if you want one.
