So that meme where you post the first line of the first 15 songs that come up randomly on your playlist is making the rounds again...so I'm doing it again...I don't know why...but there is something I like about it. And also, it is amazing how hard it sometimes is to ID songs when looking at lyrics with no music attached. So without further ado.

Step 1. Put your playlist on random.
Step 2. Post the first line from the first 15 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3. Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly. NO GOOGLING.

Note: Since I listen to a lot of really odd songs...a few of them might not be identifiable...sorry bout that...while others might be really easy. Ah well...the joy of randomness. Oh...I disqualified songs that I couldn't understand the lyrics of.

1. "I live my life like there's no tomorrow. All I've got, I had to steal."
2. "Out in the trench with the Belgian and French, a young Irish soldier lay down."
3. "He always runs while others walk. He acts while other men just talk."
4. "People get ready, there's a train a'coming. You don't need no baggage, just get on board."
5. "Yah, Psycho Therapy, Psycho Therapy, Psycho Therapy's what they want to give to me."
6. "Look what's happening out in the streets. Got a Revolution, Got to Revolution."
7. "You went to school to learn, girl, things you never, never knew before. Like I before e except after c, and why 2 plus 2 makes four"
8. "You don't remember me, but I remember you. Twas not so long ago, You broke my heart in two."
9. "If you want me to take an interest in you, you may have a chance if you follow these rules. Don't come on too strong, a girl likes a mystery."
10. "I wish I was a willow, and I could sway to the music in the wind. I wish I was a lover, I wouldn't need my costumes and pretend"
11. "Everytime that I hear a woman cry, cuz her man has left her flat, I just feel like saying, 'Don't be such a fool you fool.'"
12. "Good Morning captain, good morning shine. Do you need another muleskinner, out on your new mud line?"
13. "Last night I saw her, your Llorona. Sitting alone at the back of the bar. The smoke and tequila, tears and mascara. Hopeless and haunting the Hotel Cesar."
14. "Good Golly Miss Molly, sure like to ball. Good Golly Miss Molly, sure like to ball. When you're rocking and a rolling, can't hear your momma call."
15. "If you walk through the garden, better watch your back. Well I beg your pardon, walk the straight and narrow track."

So. #2 is a song from the 1910s, it probably won't be gotten. #9 is by a Neo Swing band from the Bay Area...which means that unless you were into that scene you probably wouldn't know it. This leaves #12 and #13. #12 is totally getable and I think one of the -Musicologists should get it especially. #13...hm...it is gettable...but it is sort of obscure...so I'm not hopeful on that one either.

#5 is Ramones "Psycho Therapy"
#11 is Rasputina's "If Your Kisses Won't Hold The Man You Love (Your Tears Won't Bring Him Back)"
#14 is I do believe "Good Golly Miss Molly" by Little Richard. That might not be the actual song name though.
#15 is Tom Waits "Temptation"

Several of the others sound really familiar, I'll have to go dig through my itunes to see if I recognize anything. I know I know #7. Is #9 Christina Aguilara's Genie in a Bottle???

I recognize #15 as the opening theme of "The Wire". While I agree that I think the song is originally Tom Waits, isn't the name of the song "Way Down In The Hole"?

Gah, you are correct.

#11 was the original version of the song by Sophie Tucker...but I'll count it.
and arlan_bishop is right...that's Tom Waits's "Way Down in the Hole"

#9 is not Christina...is it a bit obsure.
#7, on the other hand, is really famous.

Um, is #7 one of the best driving songs ever, aka "ABC" by the Jackson 5?

I heart the Snow even more!

So are you going to join the Trav community and claim the position you want? The Doctor and the Comms officer have both been taken. You've got Engineer, Merchant and Pilot left.

1. "Runnin' with the Devil" by Van Halen
3. "Thunderball" by Tom Jones

And number 2 is pricking at my memory, but I can't place it right now.

Correct and correct again!

I was wondering if anyone would get Thunderball.

#2 is one of my random really old songs that came up...so I'm not all that hopeful it'll get got.

I'm pretty sure #13 is Concrete Blonde, but I'm not sure of the name of the song. I never owned the album, but it's on the same album with "Violent"...

I feel like I ought to know #12, but I can't capture the tune in my head.

Now you are the Awesome!

#13 is Concrete Blond and it is on the same album as "Violent" --because you got so close, I'll give it to you. The title is "La Llorona."
