So this was ganked from [livejournal.com profile] archangelbeth.

It is George Takei's response to Tim Hardaway's homophobic remarks.

George Takei is awesome.

Yesterday I rode about 35 miles on my motorbike. It was awesome. I did some big loops on major streets to practice left and right turns at major intersections and driving around in that sort of multi-lane traffic. That went well, so I drove to LMU and back...that went well, so I drove to school on the 405 and back on surface streets. That all went really well...so awesome! I've got very hot saddlebags on the bike now and I feel are sorts of cool on it.

On Battlestar: Cally needs to leave the service...she is so low-speed that she is in reverse. Then after she gets out, then she can perhaps stop being so whiney. As we say in the service, she needs to suck it up and drive on...but she clearly is incapable of mustering up even a little military bearing. So...buh-bye!

"Of course, living as male tends to invalidate any opinions I might have about the presence or lack of misogyny in cultural works."

It's a little known side effect of taking T: as 3-d spatial perception improves, the part of the brain used to recognize misogyny shrinks. Actually, the same regions of the brain are used for both, so if you have one, you don't have the other. Also, your life experiences evaporate as your voice deepens and your ability to have empathy declines in proportion to facial hair growth.

Sorry for the snark. The reasoning of which you speak frustrates me quite a bit.

The reasoning of which I speak frustrates me too, but I've been in situations where a non-male ID'd person has called something sexist and I have disputed the claim only to be told that as a male, I have no right to dispute the sexist nature of anything with a non-male ID'd person. That disputing her claims was anti-feminist (and also homophobic). So...whether I like it or not, I do recognize that for many people, my being male does invalidate any ability for me to have discourse on sexism/misogyny unless it is to validate what others have said. I may not like it, but, engaging in that fight only puts me in the bad guy seat.

Hey! I notice that you are a mod of feminist nowadays! How's that going? I had been a member for about a year or two a while ago...but the vibe got pretty toxic for me and I figured I'd just drop the board. How is it now?

gah, my browser just ate my reply. I'd say it's less toxic. If you apply for membership, give me a heads up and I'll approve you.
