Update on my life: I'm busy and I'm going to cut off the fro...but my next hair appointment isn't until next Wednesday...I thought it was this Wednesday.

My nutritionist and I are getting along swimmingly.

I'm playing an new MMO called A Tale in the Desert...which is oddly addictive considering all you do is plant flax in ancient Egypt...you know farming. But very compelling, I must say.

Now on to something much more interesting...A meme!

Your Life: The Soundtrack
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your music player (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, etc).
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that's playing.
5. When you go to a new question press the next button.

Opening Credits? The Escape (Matsueda & Iguchi instrumental from The Bouncer Soundtrack) [This makes my life out to be a big action movie...it had better focus more on my time on the army and less on my time as an academic]

Falling in Love? Symphonic Revolution (Mandrill) [Yeah, this a good Falling In Love song...if a little bit retro for any of the times I might have been falling in love, though it lends itself well to a montage of the getting to know you moments. But it implies that my fro gets bigger rather than smaller. Lots of gold tones in this montage.]

Fight Scene? Loops Of (Chemical Brothers) [Yeah, electronica is the choice dujour for fight scenes...so I'm golden...I think my movie will be a blockbuster so far...this fight scene? In an alley I think.]

Breaking Up? Hell Above Water (The Curve) [This is an agressive song with lots of distortion. So what I'm seeing is fast cut, overhead shots of arguments, very bright and overexposed, intercut with me driving away hurt and frustrated. Lots of blue tones...dark...at night...the cityj...neon]

Secret Love? Tides of Manaunaun (Henry Cowell) [Hm...um...for a secret love...why are all of my loves marked as retro...hm...maybe my secret love could be a piano player? Pounding away at the sensual tone clusters of nostalgic desire?]

Life's Okay? I Like It Like That (Salt-n-Pepa) [Yeah, what other music can make you feel life is okay better than the beats of early SnP?]

Mental Breakdown? Careless Whisper (George Michael) [So clearly my mental breakdown has something to do with my mysterious new music piano playing paramour. Perhaps I have been driven crazy by the Tides of Manaunaun?]

Driving Flashback? Under The Double Eagle (Bill Boyd and his Cowboy Ramblers) [Well this is a some from around the 30s, I'd say...and is quite different than everything else so far....this will be such a departure from everything so far...it'll have to be a somewhat comic thing...perhaps some hillarity with me driving the HUM-V around the hills of South Korea...maybe during monsoon...a bit of Keystone Cops here.]

Partying? Madison Street Rag (Cannon's Jug Stompers) [This is from 1928...how is this going to work...um...I'm at a wild party lots of people are drunk and I bust out the banjo and play a rollicking version of this song? And win over all the people who are skeptical of me? And catch the eye of my mysterious piano player?]

Happy Dance? I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow (Slow Instrumental, John Hartford--O Brother Where Art Thou) [Well, I just don't see how this is going to work for my happy dance. It's too slow. The upbeat version of the tune I could see working for my happy dance...but this pretty slow...I mean...maybe a midday, in the sun, introspectively happy dance...I suppose it could work near the very end of the movie when All Is Right With The World]

Regretting? Burning Down the House (Talking Heads) [Could Work...but in a very 1980s glitzy thriller Less Than Zero, Bad Influence sort of way. What exactly sort of movie am I anyway?]

Final Battle? Cowboys to Girls (The Intruders) [Lush Philly Soul. This could only work if it were shot like that fight scene in A Bronx Tale that was set to The 10 Commandments of Love...so it will have to be a big fight between different forces, and me realizing that this is really not cool at all...walking away amongst the carnage.]

Death Scene? On The Prowl (Frank Klepacki, Command & Conquer Soundtrack) [Instrumental...a bit ominous. Very much evoking hidden things. Um...maybe spies comeback to kill me...maybe my piano playing love was actually a spy and not a musicologist all along?]

End Credits? Iron Man (Search and Destroy) [Gabba. So a lot of my music implies a fast paced thriller with intrigue and action...involving a geeky academic ex-spy...that's okay...but I worry about the movies pacing in the middle.]
